Iโm a big believer in sci-fi tech but 2 that I think are pretty unlikely any time soon are teleportation (certainly at a human scale) and faster than light travel.
Which are probably the 2 most important for Star Trek!
Still: we did get the iPad from there, which is cool.
It's one of these "we would need to discover new physics for this to work" things.
Physicists I talk to (my dad was a physicist) are extremely skeptical of it.
Although if we discover indefinite life extension technology (which I would say is way more likely, and in fact could easily happen in the next 100 years) staying alive for however many years to travel to a new star in a spaceship going slower than light speed wouldn't be such a big cost! ๐
And just think how globalized everything will be once we can transport ala Star Trek ๐
