I read that from British twitter Bibi's quote got tons of up votes while Piers got mostly down votes. You know whatever you read doesn't mean its true and you couldn't pay me to go back to twitter.

But I think Bibi is hitting on something that many in Britain feel and that is the 2 tier policing not the least of it is the rape gang inquiry and how the government let hundreds of thousands of working class girls be raped by muslim grooming gangs simply because the gangs were muslim and the police did not want to appear racist. The denigration of British ethnicity and Peoplehood and the vilification of everything Britain stood for over thousands of years. I think Bibi hit a nerve.

Also you do have to look at the massive antiIsrael/antisemitic marches and actions going on in the UK. Most of that is driven by Islamists or Muslims and every action is generally dismissed. Sure there are leftist in involve, its the red-green alliance trying to remake the world. Too bad the world's they want are diametrically opposed to each other.

Take the case of the guys who drove around Goldens Green, the Jewish neighborhood, with a bullhorn saying we are coming to rape your daughters. They dismissed charges against him and others for antisemitism while the courts throw grandmas in jail for hurty words on facebook. Or that estate councils refuse to hang the british flag or flag of St George because it might hurt someone's feelings, etc. But you have the Palestinian flag flying all over Britain in marches and in schools and people wear the keffiyeh as if its some kind of badge, when all it is now is a symbol of a call for genocide against at least half the world's Jews.

Melanie Phillips has been warning about this for decades and so has Douglas Murry This is not a new idea by Bibi.

Netanyahu has lost his mind, not to mention his soul. He has done so much damage to Israel and its people. Imagine if Trump were in power for 16 years.

Couldn't agree more. He's not even original with his quips.

You raise great points about the actual numbers. I think what many observers are freaking out over WRT the YooKay is that some British Muslim groups are displaying far more asabiyya than British Christians/post-Christians. Among the societal elites, there appears to be an extreme level of deference toward Muslims, verging on self-negation. And this has been going on since the Rushdie Affair.

You're pretty cool, so I can extrapolate that your dad is probably a good guy. I don't want people like him or you to get caught up in some anti-immigrant backlash. How can Britons shore up those classical liberal values you espouse when oikophobia seems to be the rule of the day?

I think "pretty" and "probably" are both understeering a bit.

Nevertheless, this comment leads me to wonder: do British Muslim families with traditions contrary to the left-wing's hegemonic---seemingly pretty conservative---ideal experience pressure from the non-Islamic left wingers, especially with their younger generations?

I'm an American Jew who has lived in the Muslim world and speaks (now quite rusty) Arabic, which has put me in the strange spot of pushing back on the hysterics of both sides. I'm not surprised a shithead like Bibi has pushed this inane little talking point, even as I'm not surprised that the far Left has embraced antisemi--er, antizionist conspiracies. So much of the tragedy of this entire situation is that the worst people are in charge on all sides and the most extreme voices are sucking up airtime.

You sound balanced. Like me, but from a Jewish perspective.

I've just seen too much of everyone's humanity to buy into easy answers or embrace black and white narratives. And one of the most tragic ironies of this whole terrible situation is how similar we ultimately are.

Exactly! 🙏🏻

Also, Pakistan is the first Muslim country with nukes never mind that Britain is not a republic.

There already is an islamist nuke nation - pakistan

We often see in Denmark that 2nd and 3rd generation immigrants become more religious adherent to islam. Not less

The injudicious comment by a typically prudent and cagey leader is not worth by any stretch the overblown literal response by this column. But it would have touched a nerve.

Yet, the PM did not invent this notion which has been circulating widely in the blogosphere. It captured his attention.

Of more consequence is the situation that the “Islamic UK” does reflect a widespread discontent about the negative impact of Islamic influences in the UK. Antisemitism, degradation of free speech, rape gangs, two-tiered justice….

(As one who studied and spent long stretches in London, I should add that the city and country has its own homegrown underclass that outdoes the rednecks and white trash in the US.)

On the one hand, I agree with you that this kind of rhetoric is pointlessly inflammatory and unprofessional.

On the other hand it's a bit rich for the British government to complain about Bibi quoting right-wing rhetoric at then when they not only constantly quote far-left rhetoric about both Israel and him personally that's far more deranged and detached from reality than anything he said, but actively threatened to arrest him over it.

Is there something controversial going on in Londonistan?

It sounds to me like he is just playing along with the MAGA fantasy version of Britain, in which we are all terrified to leave our homes because of rampaging violent criminal immigrants, we’re frightened to post anything remotely controversial on social media because the police will raid our house at dawn and we will be thrown into prison, and yes, we are on the verge of being taken over from the inside and becoming an Islamic Republic. All crazy nonsense.

Internal politics. I see this bull on a few settler friendly channels. That’s Bibi’s base. And I hate it

Other than getting old and bitter about his upcoming loss of power, I have no other explanation.

Benjamin Netanyahu was doing something rather British.

He was taking the mickey.

As several have said, he struck a nerve. As humour often does.

I think I agree it's not very statesmanlike. So within the House Rules of Britishness, isn't this a case of fair quip/ wrong mouth?

That said, Blighty does not have a great record with Israel, which is notorious in Israeli political memory.

The oil-driven Foreign Office Arabism. The disaster of the British Mandate. The tuening away of Jewish refugees from it during and after the Holocaust. And as @outis9a expertly said, the "self negation" today which cravenly appeases the Jew stabbers and murderers in our green and pleasant land.

Westminster are led by Whitehall. Whitehall are led by excessive colonial guilt. British Jews are the victims of it. As is the ordinary, every day sense of British fair play.

The relevant context goes something like this: Iranian strikes had heavily damaged Naval Support Activity Bahrain, which together with the vulnerability of the Fujairah naval base in the United Arab Emirates to Iranian rockets, allegedly forced the United States Navy to relocate its principal regional logistics hub to Diego Garcia, transforming a short Gulf sustainment network into a 2,200-mile maritime supply chain. However, U.S. use of Diego Garcia is dependent on British consent. The British government was slow to consent. They consented only after placing restrictions on U.S. use of Garcia Diego so that Britain could then publicly claim they granted use of Garcia Diego only for limited defensive activity. This reluctance of the British government to provide essential logistical support for U.S. military activities against Iran appears to have a role in triggering the public criticism from within the U.S. government of the British government. It is not surprising that the same criticism was eventually repeated from the Israeli government side. Former Mossad chief Yossi Cohen recently also accused Britain of failing to give Israel sufficient support in its war against Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

Under former prime minister Keir Starmer, Britain suspended some arms export licenses to Israel, sanctioned Israeli ministers, and recognized a Palestinian state. Former foreign secretary David Lammy described Israeli policies as “morally unjustifiable,” “repellent” and “monstrous,” and suspended trade negotiations. Prime Minister Andy Burnham, who has just replaced Starmer, has taken an even more adversarial stance. He said Starmer had not put enough pressure on Israel to halt its offensive in Gaza, apologized for Labour’s initial response to the war, and raised the possibility of banning imported goods from beyond the Green Line.

I don’t like Netanyahu and I don’t think his comment is appropriate. But at the same time Jews everywhere are getting so sick and tired of all this antisemetic bullshit, its defenders, its dismissers, its deflectors that one has to expect that shit like this is going to happen.
